Motorcyclist killed in high-speed collision with suspected DUI driver, Merced police say

A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision Saturday night in Merced.

Police said the crash occurred at G Street and Olive Avenue, just before 5 p.m.

The suspected DUI driver was traveling northbound G Street at a high-rate of speed before colliding with the motorcyclist, police said.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead. His identity is unknown.

The driver is a woman from Texas, identified as Desiree Gomez, who was booked into Merced County jail. She was charged with DUI .08 alcohol causing bodily injury, DUI alcohol causing bodily injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, according to jail records.
