Dispute with neighbor likely led to homicide in Merced, police say. Man jailed

An investigation is underway after a man was killed Friday night in Merced.

The incident happened at 8:18 p.m. in the area of W. 25th and G streets after police received reports of a man down.

Officers arrived and located the victim who had blunt force trauma. He was pronounced dead.

Officers learned a dispute between neighbors led to the man’s death and 59-year-old Theodore Arevalo was arrested and was booked into Merced County Jail on a homicide charge.

The investigation is ongoing.
