K-9 scores big bust in Merced County on his first day on the job
A California Highway Patrol K-9 had a big first day on the job on Tuesday.
CHP Central Division’s Jag alerted his officer partner to the presence of about 20 pounds of crystal methamphetamine during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 in Merced County.
The drugs — with an estimated street value of $272,400, according to the CHP — were found in the trunk of the vehicle.
Both occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody without incident.
The investigation was turned over to MAGNET (Merced Area Gang Narcotics Enforcement Team).
