Merced police investigate fatal shooting of juvenile at apartment complex

Merced police detectives are investigating a shooting that left a male juvenile dead Wednesday night.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at about 9:45 p.m. at an apartment complex on the 400 block of Lesher Street, according to Lt. Leone Pintabona.

Police found the victim with a gunshot wound. Due to the person’s age, no identifying information about the victim is being released.

According to ABC30, family members have identified the victim as 16-year-old Davarion Granados.

Pintabona said a number of gunshots, from six to 12, were reported by witnesses.

Detectives worked until 3 a.m. reviewing the scene and interviewing witnesses, Pintabona said.

There are no suspects identified at this time. Police are investigating a vehicle that may have been involved but are not releasing a description of it at this time, Pintabona said.
