A Santa Nella man has been arrested for stealing movie set lights from a semi truck on Wednesday, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.

Aaron Avila, 37, was booked into the Merced County Jail for possession of stolen property, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.

The Sheriff’s Office was call to the scene of a vehicle burglary on the 12300 block of Highway 33 in Santa Nella.

The victim reported that the lights — with a value of between $35,000 and $50,000 — were taken from the truck.

During an investigation, Merced County detectives obtained information on possible locations of the suspect.

At around 9 p.m., detectives and deputies served two search warrants — one at a residence in the area of Henry Miller/Highway 33 and the other at a residence in the Santa Nella trailer park.

An array of stolen property was found at both residences, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The movie set lighting equipment was discovered at the trailer park residence.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Darren Stevens at 209-385-7472.
