Teenager arrested for gang-related shooting, Merced County Sheriff says
A 16-year-old has been arrested on attempted murder charges for a shooting that happened in Winton on Dec. 26, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office said.
The juvenile suspect was taken into custody Friday and booked into the Iris Garrett Juvenile Justice Complex for attempted murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and a gang enhancement, the Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
Deputies responded to reports of a shooting at about 4:29 p.m. at the Cherrywood Apartments at 7194 North Winton Way on the day after Christmas
The vehicle was shot at and sustained damage, but the person inside was not hit.
During an investigation, detectives determined the shooting was gang-related and identified the suspect.
