A 20-year-old man allegedly involved in a domestic incident in Winton led Merced County sheriff’s deputies on a short chase before he was arrested Tuesday night.

While responding to the alleged domestic incident at around 8:30 p.m., deputies found a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle near the intersection of Shaffer Road and Palm Avenue.

When deputies tried to stop the vehicle, Izik Torrez drove off and led deputies on a short pursuit, the Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

Torrez pulled into a residence in the 6500 block of Eucalyptus Ave. and ran inside, according to the post.

Deputies took him into custody and booked him into the Merced County Jail for felony evading a peace officer and violation of a restraining order.
