Atwater man arrested for attempted murder after shooting in Winton, sheriff says
A 42-year-old Atwater man was arrested Monday for attempted murder after a shooting in Winton last month, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting on the 6900 block of Winton Way was reported to the Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 14 .
When deputies arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
During the investigation, detectives identified Jose Miguel Martinez-Zarate as the suspect, the Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
Martinez-Zarate was located at the Town and Country Motel in Livingston and taken into custody without incident.
He will be booked into Merced County jail on charges of attempted murder, the post said.
