Merced man arrested in Chowchilla on drug and gun charges, police say
A Merced man was arrested for drug and gun charges in Chowchilla late Sunday night, according to the Chowchilla Police Department.
Just before midnight, officers were called out to the scene of a suspicious vehicle parked at 255 Washington Road in Chowchilla, according to a police Facebook post.
People were observed entering and exiting the vehicle, police said.
Officers conducted a vehicle check and contacted Jose Venegas of Merced and Nicolle Head of Chowchilla sitting inside, the post said.
Officers observed drugs in plain sight and conducted a search. Both suspects admitted to ingesting methamphetamine, the post said.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found methamphetamine, paraphernalia and a loaded 9mm pistol under the back seat.
Venegas was arrested on drug and firearm charges, and Head was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance, police said.
Both were booked into the Madera County Jail.
