K-9’s nifty nose leads to large drug bust in Merced County, CHP says
A California Highway Patrol K-9 sniffed out more than $3.5 million worth of narcotics during a traffic stop in Merced County on Monday, according to a CHP Merced Facebook post.
A Central Division K-9 officer conducted a traffic stop and found what appeared to be indicators of criminal activity, the post said.
The post said consent was given to search the vehicle.
Shei, the officer’s K-9 partner, alerted to the presence of narcotics.
The post said that approximately 61 pounds of suspected cocaine, 5 pounds of suspected fentanyl and a loaded handgun were located.
The driver was taken into custody and later booked into the Merced County Jail on multiple narcotics and weapons-related charges, the post said.
