Planada juvenile arrested for gun, drug possession, Merced County sheriff says
A 17-year-old from Planada was arrested Sunday for possession of a firearm and a controlled substance.
At around 9 p.m., Merced County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the area of Plainsburg Road and Topeka St. in Planada because residents reported hearing gunshots.
While investigating in the area, deputies heard additional gunshots coming from the area of Kraft Road, a sheriff’s office Facebook post said.
Deputies responded to that location and located a suspicious person, the post said.
A search of the juvenile revealed he had a loaded 40-caliber handgun and a small bag of processed marijuana, the post said.
The individual was arrested and booked into juvenile hall.
