53-year-old arrested on burglary, vehicle theft charges, Merced sheriff says

A 53-year-old is facing burglary, vehicle theft and other charges after being arrested in Merced early Tuesday morning, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded to a residence on the 2600 block of Cedar Crest Ct. in Merced for a burglary in progress at 2:50 a.m.

As deputies arrived, they saw the victim’s vehicle leaving the residence driven by an unknown suspect, according to a Merced County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.

The suspect was later located hiding on the side of a residence near the 2900 block of Redwood Dr.

The suspect, Billie Lorraine Latham, was booked into the Merced County Jail for burglary, vehicle theft, committing a felony while on bail, petty theft with prior convictions and resisting arrest.

The California Highway Patrol assisted in the investigation.
