A traffic stop in Merced County by California Highway Patrol officers resulted in a large drug seizure Tuesday night, the CHP said.

CHP Merced-area officers stopped a Honda Accord for a traffic violation on northbound Highway 99 south of Mission Avenue.

The driver and passenger gave consent for the vehicle to be searched, the CHP said in a Facebook post.

CHP Central Division K9 officers and Merced Area Gang Narcotic Enforcement Team agents helped search the vehicle, the post said.

Two concealed compartments hidden beneath the front seats held 10 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of $1 million, the CHP said.

Both the driver and passenger were arrested. The CHP post identified neither person.
