A 22-year-old woman has been arrested for stabbing another woman during an altercation Saturday night in Hilmar, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.

Alexis Martinez showed up at the alleged victim’s residence on Dayton Ave. in Hilmar wanting to fight the woman over a past dispute, a sheriff’s office Facebook post said.

When deputies arrived at the residence at around 9:30 p.m., the adult female victim was suffering from stab wounds to the side of her chest and back. The victim was transported to an area hospital and has since been released, the post said.

After an investigation, deputies identified Martinez as the suspect. They found her at a residence in the 16600 block of Longview Avenue in Livingston, the post said.

Martinez was booked into the Merced County Jail for attempted murder.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact detectives at 209-385-7472.
