CHP Merced looking for driver involved in hit-and-run that injured juvenile
The California Highway Patrol in Merced is seeking the public’s help in locating a driver and vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a juvenile male April 3.
The juvenile was riding a minibike just outside of Merced at night when he was struck by a dark-colored SUV, believed to be a Toyota BZ4X. The minibike was not equipped with a headlight, CHP said.
CHP officers were called to the scene of the collision a few minutes after 8 p.m., CHP said in a Facebook post published Friday.
According to a CHP investigation, the juvenile was riding the minibike and attempted to cross Wardrobe Avenue west of Thornton Road.
The SUV hit the juvenile, who was ejected from the minibike and suffered major injuries, the post said.
The driver of the SUV continued to drive west on Wardrobe without stopping, the post said. The SUV had front-end damage after the collision, the CHP said.
