Driver crashes vehicle in Merced County after being pursued by CHP
A driver who eluded Turlock police on Sunday night couldn’t escape from authorities on Monday night.
Officers from the California Highway Patrol on Monday spotted a vehicle that had been involved in a pursuit with officers from the Turlock Police Department the day before.
When CHP officers attempted to stop the vehicle in Merced County, the driver fled north on Shaffer Road at high speed, according to a CHP Merced Facebook post.
The chase came to an end when the driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree near Gertrude Avenue.
After the crash, the suspect tried to run from the scene but was quickly caught by Merced County Sheriff’s Office deputies and taken into custody by the CHP, the post said.
