Los Banos police make arrest for sales of marijuana, nicotine vape devices at schools

An investigation into sales of marijuana and nicotine vape devices at Los Banos schools has led to the apprehension of three teenagers, police said Thursday.

Two suspects, ages 17 and 16, were released to the custody of their parents, according to a Los Banos Police Department Facebook post.

An adult suspect, 19-year-old Alexis Valverde, was arrested and booked for violations related to the sale of cannabis to minors and conspiracy.

Los Banos police and Los Banos Unified School District officials recently noticed an increase in marijuana and nicotine vape devices being found in the possession of students. This included kids as young as third grade, the post said.

On May 4, Los Banos school resource officers received information regarding an Instagram account allegedly advertising and selling the products.

Evidence obtained during the ensuing investigation included photographs, videos and communications, the post said.

Officers located and seized a significant quantity of nicotine and cannabis vaping products, along with additional contraband, the post said.
