Man shot multiple times at Merced County park, sheriff says
A man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times at a Merced County park Tuesday night, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to Winton Community Park just before 8 p.m. The park is at 7155 Olive Ave. in Winton.
Witnesses told deputies that the man was shot in the parking lot while a Little League baseball practice was happening nearby, according to a Facebook post by the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies immediately began life-saving measures before the man was transported to the hospital, where he remained in critical condition Wednesday morning. No other people were injured.
Sheriff’s detectives were able to identify several people of interest related to the shooting, the post said.
With the assistance of its SWAT team, the Sheriff’s Office served three search warrants in the 1000 block of Front Street in Livingston.
