Two shot at Merced Halloween party

Two people were shot around 1 a.m. Friday in west Merced.

Lt. Chris Goodwin said there were two victims, a 21-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, who were taken to area hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening. The woman remained hospitalized Friday morning. The man was treated and released.

Police responded at 1:05 a.m. to the 1800 block of Driftwood Drive in west Merced. Initial reports indicated up to three people had been injured, but officers found just two victims.
