Shooting injures three in Winton

Three people are expected to survive after being shot Saturday night in Winton, according to Merced County Sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies believe the crime is gang-related, and no suspects are in custody.

The shooting was reported around 9 p.m. in the 7100 block of Bobbie Avenue in Winton. Deputies arrived at the scene and found two 18-year-old females and a 19-year-old male with bullet wounds, according to Deputy Delray Shelton.

The victims were taken to a Modesto hospital for treatment. Deputies learned the victims had been shot while standing in a driveway.

While a suspect description is not available, deputies say the suspect vehicle is a small white van with a gray stripe across the bottom.

It’s unknown whether the Winton shooting is related to a Merced shooting reported around 10 p.m. Saturday that also injured three people.

Sheriff’s detectives are asking anyone with information about the Winton shooting to call (209) 385-7472. Tips are kept confidential and callers can remain anonymous.
