Merced police seek public’s help in shooting investigation

Merced police are asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects responsible for shooting at a home over the weekend.

Numerous shots were fired around 6:30 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 1900 block of Shadowbrook Drive, the Merced Police Department said in a news release.

Several people in the area told police they heard at least five shots, but officers were unable to locate any eyewitnesses, according to police.

Police said a house was struck with several gunshots, but nobody inside the home was injured. The residents told officers they did not see anyone firing at the house.

Lt. Chris Goodwin said police do not believe Sunday’s shooting was related to another incident Oct. 31 near the same area in which two people were shot during a party. “There is no connection that we know of,” Goodwin said.

Merced police are asking anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Sgt. Scott Skinner at (209) 385-6913 or (209) 385-4702, or the Merced Police Department Tipster Line at (209) 385-4725. The public can send information via anonymous text message to police by dialing “TIP411” (847411) and including the word “Comvip” as the keyword in the text message.
