Merced County sheriff’s investigators on Wednesday released an artist’s rendering of a man who died by suicide last week and has yet to be identified.

Sgt. Delray Shelton said the man did not carry identification, so deputies have been unable to notify his family. Shelton said investigators have exhausted all available avenues, including fingerprints, and have had no luck learning the man’s identity.

“We’re hoping someone from the public will recognize him from the sketch and provide us with information so we can contact the man’s family,” Shelton said.

The man apparently entered a business around 11:30 a.m. Nov. 17 in the 3300 block of Highway 59 in Merced. Employees spotted the man running toward a company shop on the property and tried to make contact with the him, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The man climbed a 60-foot-tall silo and jumped off, plunging to the ground.

Investigators described him as a white male adult, 19 to 25 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 109 pounds, with black medium-length wavy hair, brown eyes, and a thin mustache and goatee.

He was wearing jeans with three hooded jackets, boot socks and no shoes.

Deputies are asking anyone who may have an idea about the man’s identity to contact the deputy coroner’s office at (209) 385-7369.
