Law enforcement to target drunken drivers in December
Law enforcement agencies countywide are stepping up their efforts this month to target drunken drivers.
Merced County Avoid the 11, which represents those Merced County agencies, has announced its upcoming enforcement operations for its Winter Holiday DUI Campaign. According to a press release, DUI checkpoints and operations are expected to take place on these dates and at the following locations:
▪ Monday, 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., DUI/driver’s license checkpoints in Los Banos
▪ Monday, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., DUI/driver’s license checkpoints in Merced
▪ Tuesday, 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., DUI saturation patrols in Merced, conducted by UC Merced
▪ Thursday, 7 p.m to 2 a.m., DUI saturation patrols in Merced
▪ Saturday, 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., DUI saturation patrols in Atwater
▪ Dec. 22, 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., DUI checkpoint in Los Banos
▪ Dec. 27, 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., DUI saturation patrols in Merced
Funding for the “Avoid” program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to a press release.
