Two men sought in Atwater robbery
An Atwater man was robbed early Wednesday by two armed men who took the victim’s backpack, wallet and cellphone after threatening to kill him, police reported.
The victim, a man in his mid-30s, was not injured when he was confronted by the two men. One held a knife against the victim’s throat and the other brandished a silver handgun, Lt. Samuel Joseph told the Sun-Star.
Police said the victim was riding his bicycle at 4:19 a.m. in the area of Clark Terrace and East Juniper Avenue when the robbers exited a red Ford Mustang and confronted him. They took his property and were last seen heading south on Shaffer Road in the Mustang, investigators said.
Officers described the men as Latinos who both wore black clothing; one is about 6-foot-1 and weighing about 230 pounds, and the other about 6-foot-2, weighing around 180 pounds.
Police are requesting the public’s help in identifying the robbers.
