Atwater woman attacked and robbed in her home, police say
Atwater police were looking for two people who attacked a 72-year-old woman inside her home and may have stolen a diamond necklace.
Police were called early Sunday to a home in the 1600 block of Fairway Drive. The woman told police she was cooking Saturday afternoon and went into her hallway when she was confronted by a man, Lt. Samuel Joseph said.
He covered her face and asked if anyone else was at home. The attacker then told another person to check the home. The attacker then “began repeatedly striking her in the face until she lost consciousness and fell to the ground,” Joseph said.
The victim woke up the next morning and called for help. She was unable to describe the attackers.
Police said a diamond necklace may have been taken.
The victim was taken to a Turlock hospital for treatment. Her injuries were described as not life-threatening.
