Man killed in hit-and-run in Merced, driver sought
A man was killed Saturday afternoon in Merced after he was struck by a vehicle that left the scene, the Merced Police Department reported.
Police were called at 4:18 p.m. to the 1400 block of East Santa Fe Drive and found a man believed to be in his 20s on the side of the road.
“It appeared the deceased had been lying off the side of the road for several hours before a passerby saw him and called the police,” police said in a news release.
Officers are looking for a silver Ford car in connection with the case.
The victim’s name was withheld until his family could be notified.
