Merced County HSA “bomb threat” linked to bathroom graffiti
Merced police have reported all clear on a possible bomb threat at the Merced County Human Services Agency that is believed to be a nothing more than vandalism.
Lt. Matt Williams said officers already were on scene shortly after 1 p.m. for reports of vandalism in a public bathroom. The words “bombs here” appeared over a toilet.
After an employee reported the graffiti to a supervisor, a fire alarm was pulled, 911 called and the building on Wardrobe Avenue evacuated.
“It appeared to be nothing more than a bathroom joke,” Williams said of the graffiti.
Williams said police searched the building as a precautionary measure, but determined it safe.
It is the second bomb threat reported today in Merced. El Capitan High School was evacuated early Thursday after a bomb threat. Nothing dangerous was found in that incident, police said.
