Two people stabbed during fight on R Street in Merced
Two people suffered non-fatal stab wounds late Wednesday evening during a fight reported in the 300 block of R Street, according to Merced police.
Police responded to the scene at 11:21 p.m. after a fight erupted between two groups of numerous people, Sgt. Tony Aponte said.
Aponte said the cause of the fight remains under investigation. Three people were taken into custody: a 15 year-old girl and two boys, ages 15 and 13.
Aponte said a knife and gun were recovered at the scene, although it does not appear that anyone suffered gunshot wounds. Aponte said police do not believe shots were fired during the incident.
The victims were treated by medical personnel.
