Rollover earns Merced woman 2nd DUI
A 47-year-old Merced woman was cited for drunken driving Monday after rolling her vehicle on R Street in Merced, the Police Department reported.
It was the second DUI citation the woman received in 10 days, Merced police confirmed.
Brenda Forte was not seriously injured when she rolled her 2003 Hyundai Tiburon about 12:41 p.m. Monday at the intersection of R Street and Bear Creek Drive, police Sgt. Jay Struble said.
No other vehicles were involved.
Police said Forte was heading north on R Street when she drove over the curb, struck a cement barrier and flipped her vehicle, which landed upside down on the roadway. “Due to the airbag deployment, she was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and cited there,” Struble said.
She was not booked into jail, police confirmed.
Police said traffic was delayed for a short time while emergency responders cleaned up the scene.
Forte was cited previously Dec. 26 by the California Highway Patrol after she was stopped on Dickenson-Ferry Road while driving the same vehicle involved in Monday’s crash, police said.
