Merced man arrested; guns, marijuana seized
A 34-year-old Merced man was arrested after agents with the Gang Violence Suppression Unit said they found guns and about four pounds of marijuana at his Childs Avenue home, the Police Department reported.
Christopher M. Reyes was arrested Saturday after agents seized two handguns, several rounds of ammunition, four pounds of marijuana and packaging material, cash and “gang attire,” officers said in a news release.
Police said they began investigating Reyes after learning he may have been “selling drugs from his residence located in the 2300 block of East Childs Avenue.”
Reyes was booked into the Merced County jail on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm, possession of marijuana for sales, being a felon in possession of ammunition and resisting arrest. He was no longer in custody Tuesday.
According to jail records, Reyes has been arrested numerous times dating back to at least 2013 on a variety of charges, including drug possession and burglary.
