Livingston man arrested in weapons, drug case
Gang investigators seized stolen firearms and methamphetamine in Livingston, according to the Merced Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit.
Raul Escalona, 35, was arrested Friday at his home in the 1900 block of F Street in Livingston, police said in a news release.
Agents and the officers with the Livingston Police Department searched Escalona’s home and found a stolen 12-gauge shotgun and a stolen 9 mm handgun. Investigators also found an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and marijuana, as well as scales and packaging materials, officers said.
A 38-caliber revolver was also seized from another location during the investigation, police said.
The search was prompted after investigators “developed information” Escalona was possibly selling drugs in Merced and keeping weapons at his Livingston home, officers said.
Police described Escalona as a “convicted felon,” though details of any criminal history were not available Sunday.
Escalona was arrested and booked at Merced County jail on suspicion of possession of narcotics for sales, felon in possession of firearms, felon in possession of ammunition and receiving stolen property.
