A 29-year-old Merced man has been arrested in connection with the theft of about $2,700 in tools, the Merced Police Department reported.

Charles C. Pullen was arrested Tuesday and booked at the John Latorraca Correctional Center on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property. He remained in custody Thursday with bail set at $60,000, according to Merced County jail records.

The theft was reported Tuesday at Creekside Apartments, 2813 Park Ave. Police said the thief cut a lock off a trailer parked in the lot and removed numerous tools.

“The trailer was being used by the contractor to store tools in while they renovated several different apartments within the complex,” police said in a news release.

Police found several of the stolen tools inside Pullen’s nearby apartment and others in his vehicle, officers said.

“Pullen confessed to stealing the tools from the trailer,” police said in the statement.

Police are asking anyone with any information regarding this incident to call 209-385-4706, or the Merced Police Department Tipster Line at 209-385-4725.
