Two arrested in Merced gang investigation
Two men were arrested Thursday after gang investigators seized cocaine and a gun from a home on West 23rd Street in Merced, the Police Department reported.
Joseph White, 21, whom police described as a gang member on parole, was booked into the John Latorraca Correctional Center on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance. He remained in custody Friday without bail, according to booking records.
Another man, 24-year-old Eric Lee, was cited and released on a warrant. Details of the warrant were not available Friday.
The arrests were the result of an investigation developed by the department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit. Officers went the home on West 23rd Street about 9:20 p.m. to follow up and spotted two people running into the home, police said in a news release.
Officers found an unspecified amount of cocaine and a loaded .45-caliber firearm, police said.
