Merced ATM robbery suspect arrested
Merced police on Thursday arrested an 18-year-old man as a suspect in a bank ATM robbery reported last month.
Police on Monday released a photo of the possible robber to the Merced Sun-Star. Officers then received a tip from an individual, who identified the person in the photo as Joshua Rozell, according to a police news release.
Rozell was taken into custody after Detective Joe Deliman contacted the victim, who identified Rozell as the robber. Rozell was taken into custody about 2:30 p.m. Thursday by Officer Leon Pintabona and Deliman, who found the suspect in the 200 block of West 18th Street. Police said Rozell admitted during an interview to committing the robbery. He was booked at Merced County jail on suspicion of robbery.
The robbery was reported Dec. 30 at a Bank of America ATM on West Main Street in Merced. During the robbery, the suspect allegedly robbed the victim at gunpoint. A camera captured the suspect’s photo. Rozell remains in custody in lieu of $50,000 bail.
