Merced police seized illegal firearms and suspected cocaine from two convicted felons in separate cases, the Police Department reported.

The Merced Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit arrested Christopher Reyes, 34, on Friday at his home in the 2300 block of East Childs Avenue. Officers found a loaded .357-caliber revolver, ammunition and “baggies of cocaine” inside his home, police said in a news release.

“He admitted that the firearm belonged to him,” officers said in the statement.

Reyes was booked at the Merced County jail on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of cocaine and committing a felony while on bail. He was no longer in custody Monday, booking records show.

Reyes has been arrested multiple times in Merced County dating to 2013, mostly on drug- and theft-related allegations, according to booking records.

The police gang unit Thursday arrested 33-year-old Damien Perry at his home in the 4800 block of West Highway 140 in Merced, officers said in a news release.

Officers found a 9mm caliber handgun and ammunition, as well as “baggies of cocaine,” police said.

He was booked at the Merced County jail on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition and possession of cocaine. He was not listed as an inmate Monday.

Details of his prior convictions were not available Monday.
