22-year-old man shot to death in Merced
A 22-year-old man died early Monday after a shooting in the 1100 block of P Street, Merced police confirmed.
Although the coroner has not released the victim’s name, family members identified him to ABC 30 as Adrian Ybarra, 22.
Police responded just before midnight on Sunday to P Street, where they found the victim. He was rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said in a statement.
“Right now we are in the early stages of the investigation and the only information that has been obtained is that there was a vehicle heard speeding from the area. We do not have a description of the vehicle and it is unknown at this time if it is related or not,” officers said in the news release.
Police said it remained undetermined whether the incident was gang related. This is the third homicide in Merced in 2015.
