Shooting reported in Merced

A homeowner and 15-year-old boy exchanged gunfire in a Merced home on Wednesday morning after the teen woke the homeowner while burglarizing the home, Merced police reported.

Few details were immediately available, including the number of people who may have been hurt.

Merced police officer are currently investigating the case on Kingfisher Court, Detective-Sgt. Curt Gorman told the Sun-Star.

Lt. Chris Goodwin confirmed the shooting was not fatal. The teen showed up to Mercy Medical Center before being transported to another hospital out of the area.
