4 arrested in Merced gang investigation, police say

The Merced Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit has arrested four people in connection with an investigation into alleged gang activity, the Police Department reported Friday.

The investigation May 27 ended with four people in custody Iisaha Davis, 21, John Mariano Sr, 42, Jaquinn Hamilton, 19, and a teenage male, police said in a news release.

Gang investigators “developed information” that Hamilton possibly had a firearm in his possession. Investigators located Hamilton, Davis, Mariano Sr. and the juvenile inside an apartment located in the unit block of West 18th Street in Merced.

Officers conducted a probation search the residence and found a 25 caliber handgun, ammunition and narcotics inside the apartment, police said.

All four suspects were arrested and booked at the Merced County jail on suspicion of felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, sales of narcotics, conspiracy and gang enhancements, according to police.
