Man shot near Dos Palos
A 40-year-old man was shot late Tuesday at his home near Dos Palos after an argument with two men, the Merced County Sheriff’s Department reported.
Damien Jimenez was taken to a regional hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Sgt. Delray Shelton said.
Shelton said, to protect the investigation, deputies could not elaborate on the nature of the victim’s injuries.
Deputies responded around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to a home in the 8000 block of Dairy Lane after receiving reports of a gunshot victim, Shelton said.
Investigators learned two men, described only as Latino adults, entered the victim’s home and threatened to kill him. Jimenez apparently tried to escape and was shot.
Shelton said the violence stemmed from some type of dispute over property in Mexico, but did not elaborate Wednesday.
No suspect descriptions were available.
