State of Merced College speech set for April

Tickets are on sale for the third annual state of Merced College speech and luncheon, which are planned for April.

The State of the College Address and presentation of the President’s Medallion are planned for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 17 at Merced College, 3600 M St. The event, which is sponsored by the Merced College Foundation, will be held at the Bill and Dorothy Bizzini Interdisciplinary Academic Center.

The annual presentation will feature a report for members of the community delivered by President Ron Taylor. The address will be followed by a ceremony for the President’s Medallion, which goes to a significant college benefactor.

This year, the college will honor Bill and Dorothy Bizzini of Merced County, who have contributed $1 million to Merced College and have made other charitable contributions to local and international organizations, according to a press release.

Individual tickets to the luncheon are $50. Tables for eight guests are $500, and corporate sponsorships are $1,000 for a table of eight. The proceeds will benefit the foundation’s scholarship program.

For more information or tickets, call the Merced College Foundation at (209) 381-6470 or go to www.mercedcollegefoundation.org.
