Merced College journal accepting creative writing, art
Merced College’s literary journal is accepting submissions for the spring 2015 edition through noon April 12.
“Merced River Literary Review” features poems, short stories, artwork, flash fiction, creative nonfiction, short plays and memoirs. All submissions for this year’s journal must be electronically submitted to editors@mccd.edu.
All written entries must use 12-point Times New Roman font, and be in Microsoft Word format ending with “.doc” or “.docx.” Artwork must be submitted in JPEG or JPG format.
A maximum of four pages of creative work may be submitted, whether the submissions are poems, prose or some other writing style, or a combination of styles.
Each email should make clear in its subject line what types of creative writing are being submitted, for example: “Four poems” or “Artwork for journal.”
By submitting to the editors of the journal, a news release states, the author is agreeing to sole one-time publication rights by the Merced River Literary Review. After publication, all rights revert to the author.
Work will not be edited without prior permission of the author.
Submission of work does not guarantee publication, according to the news release, as the journal has a limited amount of space.
Being a student or employee of Merced College is not required. Submissions from other members of the community are accepted.
Last year’s journal was professionally bound and printed by the Merced College printing press, making it the first of its kind for the college.
For more information about submitting work, contact English professor Meg Withers at margaret.withers@mccd.edu.
