Camp Green Meadows in Fish Camp extends sign-up deadline
Camp Green Meadows has extended the deadline to enroll in the summer recreation camp for incoming sixth- through eighth-graders.
The new deadline to sign up is May 29. The program runs June 8-12 at Camp Green Meadows in Fish Camp and the Sierra National Forest.
The summer camp – which hosts a variety of recreational activities, including trail hikes, exploring Big Creek and a day trip to Yosemite National Park – is different from the school year’s regular outdoor camp.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and costs $300 per child, which covers all meals, activities and lodging.
“Our summer camp is really quite a bargain, considering it covers all meals and activities. Some of our competitors charge more than twice as much,” Green Meadows Principal Bob Bassett said in a press release. “It is a great opportunity for the children of Merced County and surrounding areas.”
Children will be picked up in Merced on the morning of June 8 and returned June 12 in the early afternoon.
Checks and money orders can be used to pay registration fees. Registration packets are available at the Merced County Office of Education’s J building, 632 W. 13th St., or can be downloaded from www.campgreenmeadows.com/summercamp.
Completed packets and payments can be dropped off in Room J-1 with LaRae Demorest, Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. She can be reached at (209) 381-6630.
Also, high school cabin leaders are sought to participate and spend the week at Green Meadows.
