Scott Borba, superintendent of Le Grand Union Elementary School District, has been named this year’s Superintendent/Principal of the Year by the Association of California School Administrators — a distinction awarded annually by the group.

The award was announced at the association’s recent leadership summit in San Francisco — the group’s first in-person summit in two years, according to a Merced County Office of Education news release.

“It was incredibly humbling to represent the scholars, staff and community of Le Grand at the ACSA state summit,” said Borba.

“This award was recognition of the hard work and dedication everyone in Le Grand has put forward over these past 18 months.”

Borba has worked in education for more than 15 years. He started working for the Le Grand Union Elementary School District as superintendent in 2018.

The K-8 school district has 361 students this school year.

“Our board of trustees, teachers, classified staff and community have worked tirelessly to provide our scholars with the best learning opportunities in the safest environment possible,” said Borba.

“I’m so proud of my Le Grand family and our continued commitment to our scholars.”
