This summer, Merced College is celebrating 50 years of its College for Kids program, which provides Merced County youth a higher-education experience.

Kids will be able to take weeklong study sessions in June and July in a variety of courses, including music, fashion, science, writing and sports. It even has an “Entrepreneurship for Kids” session for business-minded students.

Classes are available for students in secondvthrough eighth grades and run Mondays through Thursdays starting June 8.

“College for Kids has been part of Merced College’s commitment to this community for 50 years,” Jill Cunningham, Merced College’s vice president of external relations, said in a news release. “By welcoming students to campus at a young age, we’re helping them see themselves in a college environment and opening the door to future opportunities. Programs like this can play a meaningful role in shaping how students view their potential and their path forward.”

Registration opens Wednesday. Classes are expected to fill quickly.
