Merced students receive sweet reward for perfect attendance

Students at John Muir Elementary School had the chance to throw whipped cream pies in their principal’s face, a sweet reward for never missing a day of school.

For some extra incentive Principal Michelle Colburn let students know about the reward for perfect attendance at the beginning of the school year, and a total of 22 students earned the right to line up and toss paper plates full of whipped cream at Colburn.

Colburn was prepared for the mess, with plastic around her clothes, a shower cap and some protection goggles for her eyes. She said it was all worth it, knowing that the kids were motivated and learning in their classrooms every day.
