Merced students showcase dance moves
Students at Alicia Reyes Elementary and Ada Givens Elementary danced for for their family and friends during recent dance festivals at their campuses.
The music started Friday at Alicia Reyes with students performing before a large crowd, dancing to everything from country music to an “electric” Hula with moves inspired by science, school officials said.
Students at Givens Elementary put on their show Wednesday morning. Each grade level showcased a different dance, including break dancing and cartwheels. The festival is now in its fifth year and also drew good-sized crowds.
Principals at both campuses said dancing is a fun way for the students to celebrate after completing another school year, and it gives them opportunities with performing arts and team work.
