Swarm of masked robbers smashes glass cases in wild California jewelry heist, video shows

Nine masked men armed with hammers swarm a California jewelry store and begin smashing open display cases in a wild security video.

Concord police say the heist took place about 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at Iceberg Diamonds inside Sun Valley Mall, a department news release said.

The video shows robbers bursting into the store and hammering at the glass display cases before yanking out jewelry.

Employees tried to intervene but the robbers threatened them with the hammers, police said. The robbers escaped before police arrived.

Some mall customers called 911 to report shots had been fired, mistaking the hammering for gunshots, the release said. No shots were fired.

Police ask that anyone with information contact detective Christine Corey with the department’s financial crimes unit at 925-603-5828.
