Stranded in snow, woman calls 911 for help — and vanishes, Colorado cops say

A woman who called 911 to report her vehicle had become stuck in snow has not been seen since Sunday, Feb. 13, Colorado sheriff’s officials reported.

Melinda Tafoya-Deltoro, 38, called 911 for help at 4:30 p.m. , the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office reported on Facebook.

She told dispatchers she was “stuck in the snow and possibly under duress,” sheriff’s officials said. Deputies found her vehicle in the Miners Candle area, but no sign of her after an extensive search.

Tafoya-Deltoro has not been seen since, deputies wrote.

The Miners Candle area is about 40 miles west of Denver. Temperatures in Clear Creek County Sunday afternoon were in the low 50s, dropping to below freezing overnight.
