A fall favorite is returning to Krispy Kreme — a month earlier than expected
Krispy Kreme is kicking off pumpkin spice season a month earlier than expected, to the delight of fans of the fall favorite.
The seasonal lineup arrives at locations nationwide starting Monday, Aug. 8, the Charlotte-based doughnut chain announced in a news release.
It includes six pumpkin spice doughnuts and drinks, including the classic pumpkin spice latte.
Fan favorites such as the Pumpkin Spice Original Glazed Doughnut and Pumpkin Spice Cake Doughnut will make a comeback, along with the new Pumpkin Spiced Latte Swirl Doughnut and Pumpkin Spice Iced Coffee, the release said.
Like Krispy Kreme, rivals Dunkin’ and Starbucks have started rolling out their pumpkin spice offerings earlier in the year — sometimes a bit too early for some fans, McClatchy News previously reported.
In 2021, Dunkin’ brought back its pumpkin spice latte on Aug. 18 while Starbucks held off until Aug. 24, according to news outlets. It’s not clear when pumpkin spice will return to either chain this year.
“Sure, pumpkin spice is generally associated with fall, but true fans of the flavor will agree that August is close enough,” Dave Skena, chief global brand officer for Krispy Kreme, said in a statement.
“So, we’re pulling fall forward, enabling our guests to indulge and enjoy early with delicious pumpkin spice doughnuts and drinks.”
