Plain White T’s singer surprises cancer patient with song in hospital room, video shows
Delilah, an 8-year-old cancer patient in California, received an incredible surprise when the singer of one of her favorite songs sent a message.
In an Instagram video posted by the Plain White T’s, Delilah receives a video message from singer Tom Higgenson saying he heard that she loves their song “Hey There Delilah” from the group’s album “All That We Needed.”
“I hear you’re a big fan of our song ‘Hey There Delilah’ so I figured I would play it for you right now,” Higgenson said in the video message.
“Actually you know what?” Higgenson continued, “I got a better idea, hang on a sec.”
The video pans up from Delilah to show Higgenson walking into her hospital room, guitar in hand, playing the beginning notes of “Hey There Delilah.”
Delilah is from Los Angeles and has been fighting cancer for four years. The video caption says Delilah’s favorite song during her cancer treatments has been the Plain White T’s Grammy nominated song that shares her name.
The video shows Delilah and others in the room singing along with Higgenson.
The video was recorded by Isaiah Garza, who has created a large online following for organizing random acts of kindness. They have over 8 million followers on TikTok and over 2 million Youtube subscribers.
An Instagram video posted a few days earlier on Garza’s account shows Delilah introducing herself, sitting between Higgenson and Garza.
“I’m so blessed to have all of this,” Delilah said.
Garza helped Delilah become an honorary Los Angeles Rams cheerleader last year.
